Three ways software companies buy links, and why each one breaks

Most SaaS teams have been through at least one of these. Some have been through all three.

The pattern is the same each time. Nobody owns the whole chain, from which page needs links to whether the link is still live in month nine.

/ process

How a link gets made here

Step three is where most link building falls apart, so it's where most of our time goes.

  1. 01

    Plan

Target pages, anchors and placement types, agreed with you.

  2. 02

    Prospect

Sites your buyers actually read, found through competitor gaps, category lists and our own publisher relationships.

  3. 03where most of our time goes

    Qualify

Relevance, real organic traffic and a risk screen for link-farm patterns. A site that fails any one is out, whatever its Domain Rating says.

    • relevance
    • organic traffic
    • link-farm screen
  4. 04

    Write and negotiate

Content drafted by our own AI tool and edited by a person to fit the publisher. We negotiate the placement price with the publisher.

  5. 05

    Monitor

Live, indexed and still pointing where it should, checked for 12 months. Removed links replaced free.

The process, explained by a co-founder

Andreea is the person you talk to. Behind her is a team that built the process and stands behind it. Here Rafał Moszkowcow (Chomsky), co-founder of Husky Hamster, walks through how a placement really gets made.

The person who decides which sites make the cut

Andreea Paluszak (Saveluc) is Head of Outreach at Husky Hamster. She's placed more than 2,500 links for SaaS and AI companies since 2022, and the number keeps growing. She built the qualification rules every prospect goes through. She's also the first person you talk to.

If I open a site and within 30 seconds I'm jumping from crypto to health to SaaS to home improvement, with commercial links dropped into everything, I already know what I'm dealing with — the site was built to sell links, and whatever DR or traffic Ahrefs shows me isn't going to turn it into a valuable prospect.

— Andreea Paluszak, Head of Outreach
/ quality standard

The rules every site has to pass

  • Real organic traffic: 2,000+ monthly visits in Ahrefs, checked against the site itself
  • No “write for us” or “advertise with us” pages
  • Topically relevant to your product category
  • Unique content on every placement, drafted by our own AI tool, edited by a person and included in the price
  • Ahrefs DR 40 or higher — a filter, never the verdict
  • Every link monitored for 12 months and replaced free if removed
  • Delivered to spec, or your money back
/ why technology only

Why we only work with technology companies

Technology buyers shortlist in public. They read comparison lists, review roundups and “alternatives to X” pages, and increasingly they ask an AI answer engine the same question.

Those pages form a small, identifiable set of sites per category. Knowing that set, and the people who run it, is most of the job.

A generalist vendor starts from zero in your category. We start with 1,200+ active publisher relationships.

+124%

Organic search visitors, year over year, after the site lost almost 35% of its traffic

Organic visitors
553,759 → 1,242,894
Search Console clicks
583k → 1.36M
Impressions
12.5M → 28.6M
Annual revenue
held at about $2.5M
How we got there
Starting point
Tax-filing software that earns most of its revenue between January and April. Traffic fell almost 35% between May and September, and the estimated revenue risk was 40%, over $1M. The site had just over 900 referring domains. The closest competitor had 1,500+.
What we built
A Link Requirement Plan (strategy), based on link data for every URL that lost traffic and for competitors' top-10 pages. Links take 4–9 weeks to work, so we put most of the budget into the first three months. We ran strategy, acquisition, maintenance and reporting for the link programme.
Result
Organic visitors up from 553,759 to 1,242,894. Search Console clicks up from 583k to 1.36M (×2.3), impressions from 12.5M to 28.6M. Annual revenue held at about $2.5M through the drop.
Period
12 months
Attribution
Results came from a cooperation in which links were the main element.

/ faq

Questions we get asked

Do you only work with SaaS and AI companies?

Yes, plus software houses and the agencies that serve them. Everything we know about publishers is concentrated in that category.

Do you pay publishers for placements?

Sometimes. Where a publisher charges, we pay it, and it's covered in your price. Placements carry no marks: we don't ask publishers to label them as sponsored or add link attributes. Bought links can be devalued by search engines, and you carry that risk with us. We tell you which placements involved a fee before you approve, and you approve every site.

Is the content written by AI?

Our own AI tool drafts it. A person edits every piece for the publisher and your product, and it's unique on every placement.

Does this help us show up in ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews?

Increasingly, that's the point. AI answer engines build their tool comparisons from the same review roundups, “best tools” lists and “alternatives to X” pages your buyers read, so those are the placements we prioritise. There's no public data yet proving that a mention causes a citation, so we track where your brand appears in AI answers — we don't promise it.

How long until we see results?

We don't give ranking or traffic timelines, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we can tell you is when each link will be live and indexed.

What happens if a link disappears?

We monitor every link for 12 months and replace removed ones free. That's included in the $295.

Can we choose anchors and target pages?

Yes. We'll tell you where we think a different choice would work harder.

Do you work white label?

Yes. Your client sees your brand, and you get our process and reporting.
