Why so SEOrious? #1, a brief summary.

Why so SEOrious? #1, a brief summary.

On June 15th, 2023, we started the next chapter in our agency's history. After long deliberation, planning, and preparation, we launched our new event: Why so SEOrious?

Why?

To put it briefly, we wanted to create a platform for industry experts and followers to come together so that we can share ideas and knowledge. This way, we can gain insight into the ever-changing world of SEO and digital marketing – something we wanted "SEO na Fyrtlu" to be.

It may sound trivial, but this is meant to be an interactive, collaborative experience.

This time, we gave our speakers a more free-form stage, allowing each of them to come up with their own topics – and to everybody's surprise, it wasn't all about ChatGPT. In fact, it was only mentioned a few times.

Review of the Meetup

At 6 PM, we gathered in Club Alibi (a small yet charming place) to discuss matters related to the future of SEO and digital marketing.

We began with a comprehensive overview of the current state of AI tools, and by that, we don't mean "top 10 GPT-based tools that could as well be ChatGPT prompts." GitHub Copilot, Jetpack, and Horseman are just a few of the products the audience got a chance to explore.

We then opened a discussion on the more practical aspects. After all, every single tool we use is just as effective as the way we put it to use.

In this part, we went on to discuss the importance of putting people at the center of our digital strategy, whether it's about a small online store or a world-famous healthcare website.

If we were to conclude the presentations with one takeaway, it would surely be this: the next big change in everything related to SEO and digital marketing has already happened.

Whether we like it or not, technology will continue to shape the way we interact with our customers and even with each other. And what's more, it's not a bad thing!

Presentations

The first lecture of the evening was delivered by Barbara Oleszek-Leszczyńska from Verseo. She provided us with a comprehensive overview of the various AI tools out there, bringing us up to speed with the latest developments in this ever-changing environment.

While we all like to pretend that we're up to speed with everything there is to know about AI and ML, the truth is that everyone can still learn something from one another, and this keynote was certainly not an exception.

The second lecture was delivered by our man, Jarek Motyliński, who spoke about the potential of programmatic SEO and how AI and ML can help us when it comes to campaigns. Jarek is a champion in his own right, and his enthusiasm and knowledge about AI allow him to come up with creative ways to put it to use.

He started with a brief introduction to programmatic SEO, highlighting its advantages and drawbacks over manual SEO processes, before going on to discuss cases of programmatic SEO in real-life situations – the results of which left us dumbfounded.

Next, we had the undeniably passionate Wojciech Popiela from Webmetric, who talked about the importance of behavioral economics. Wojciech explained the need to put people at the center of our digital strategy, regardless of whether it's about a TikTok account or eCommerce websites selling fine wine.

The highlight of Wojciech's lecture? Lots of science-based evidence. Those with analytical minds thrived.

Finally, but certainly not least, was Marek Kosno from Brandly360, who spoke about AI and ML in price management. This one was a very technical talk, full of data-driven processes, so if you were looking for someone to explain AI-based pricing strategies in plain English, Marek's your man.

A key takeaway from his presentation was that machine learning models are outstanding when it comes to running long-term pricing campaigns, especially for competitive products.

However, this isn't to say that you can't use it for less volatile items, as it all depends on the strategy (which AI cannot provide for you, at least for now).

And sadly, ChatGPT is not a suitable substitute either, so for now, we have to stick with the old-fashioned way.

At around 8:30 PM, after a full two and a half hours of presentations, we wrapped up this edition of "Why so SEOrious?" with lots of knowledge, newly-made connections, and a hefty dose of inspiration.
